New cocktails in the Shanghai Bar

Our 'Ancient Fashioned' cocktail

Visit the Shanghai Bar and you’ll discover a completely new cocktail list, created by bars manager Myles Donneky and his talented team. Our popular tea-based ‘Bing Cha‘ cocktails have all been remixed and are joined by an exciting selection of new Hutong Signature cocktails.

The new Bing Cha blends, all using teas from Rare Tea Company, include the floral, sweet Fujian Breeze with reviving ginseng candy sugar and Kamm & Sons ginseng spirit and the peppery, subtly-sharp Moli Hua with chrysanthemum tea, Tanqueray gin and toddy palm, a type of bean syrup.

Among the Signature cocktails there are exciting twists on the classic Bloody Mary, The Galangal – galangal-infused Ketel One vodka, tomato juice, dark soy sauce, plum wine and spices – and the Old Fashioned, here reinvented as the Ancient Fashioned combining two whiskeys, Nikka and Bulleit with ginseng syrup, cloves, cherry bitters and Maraschino liqueur.

As much thought has been given to presentation and garnishes as to the drinks themselves, making the new cocktails as visually delightful as to drink – the Ancient Fashioned for example, pictured here, is served in a unique wooden cup garnished with a dried orange wheel.

Whether before, after or indeed with dinner – Hutong Signature cocktails are also served in the restaurant – on their own, or perhaps with a few dim sum, served in the bar from 1pm-5pm, we’re sure you’ll enjoy discovering our new cocktails.

The Shanghai Bar is open seven days a week from midday until midnight. No bookings are taken or needed; the bar operates on a walk-in basis.
