A magical evening at Magic Feast

Posted on November 20, 2014

Last Thursday we spent a very enjoyable evening at Magic Feast, a fantastic fundraising event for Magic Breakfast. Held in the flying saucer-like cafeteria of Surrey Square Primary School, not far from The Shard in Bermondsey, the event saw a host of London restaurants and bars come together to create a very special ‘street food’-style market for one night only!

Alongside our stall serving poached pork wontons with garlic-chilli sauce were MEATliquor with their famous burgers and our Bermondsey neighbours Village East and The Garrison offering lamb meatball sliders and pear, blue cheese and walnut salad. Soon-to-open ‘all-day brunch’ restaurant The Good Egg presented freshly-made shakshuka – poached eggs in a spicy tomato sauce – while Pizza Pilgrims parked their mobile oven in the playground to make delicious truffle and mushroom pizzas to order.

Sweet teeth were catered to by The Breakfast Club with their decadent pancakes with whipped cream and berries, and no-one went thirsty thanks to a plentiful donation of wine and craft beers.

Participating restaurants and bars donated all food and drink for the night meaning 100% of the ticket price, as well as money raised from raffle tickets and auction bids, went to benefit Magic Breakfast – a total of nearly £4000! The charity provides a healthy breakfast to 8,500 children each morning, as essential fuel for learning, at a cost of just 22p per child – so the money raised will fund the charity’s work for two whole days.

We loved being part of Magic Feast and are already looking forward to next year’s!
