Hutong summer festivals pop-up

Posted on August 4, 2014

The arrival of summer heralds the start of the food festivals season, and we have recently had the excitement of ‘popping up’ at two London events. First on July 24th was London Bridge Open Kitchen, held at White Cube on Bermondsey Street and organised by Team London Bridge.

This one-night-only event saw many of the restaurants centred around London Bridge and Bermondsey come together to offer taster-size portions of their food which guests could enjoy with a drink or two from local bars and brewers while enjoying live music from a Cuban-style band. We served a salad of sliced sea whelk with Sichuan green peppercorn dressing and cold buckwheat noodles tossed in a spicy, tangy chilli-vinegar sauce and topped with fresh vegetables.

The noodles returned for our second outing, over the first two days of the four-day FEAST festival held at the historic Tobacco Dock in east London. This time the menu also included shredded Peking duck buns and hand-made pork wontons in spicy-garlic sauce, each portion poached to order by our team of chefs who joined our marketing team on the stall.

Both events were a wonderful way for us to bring Hutong to a new audience and engage with both our local community in the case of London Bridge Open Kitchen and a wider London audience at FEAST of diners who were keen to try our food but might not yet have had the chance to dine at the restaurant, and we would like thank everyone who visited us on the stall at either event for making it so enjoyable for us.

Next is Bermondsey Street Festival on Saturday 20th September – we look forward to seeing you there!
